Cross-section of pavement
Base Preparation:
In order to ensure a quality pavement, the paved driveway or footpath must have a well compacted road base or subbase.
Bedding: Bedding is distributed evenly on the top of the road base or subbase until an even surface finish is achieved.
Spacing of Pavers:
According to the specification, pavers should be laid in such a manner that they are not in direct contact with each other and that the filling joints of 2 mm and 3 mm shall be formed.
Final Compaction:
Compaction is important as this action embeds the pavers into the bedding which prevents them from moving at a later date.
Edge Restraints:
Edge restraints can prevent the loss of bedding material. Furthermore, they can keep the pavers in position.
